Message from Our Grand Knight Tom Scalise

Dear Brother Knights & Sister Columbiettes,
I hope everyone and their families had a Healthy and Happy Thanksgiving and wish all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
The Christmas season is upon us and I’m sure it will not be like any we have ever experienced. Hopefully we can celebrate with our families and with Covid-19 precautions.
By the time you receive this Mariner issue, our Council will have setup up our Keep Christ in Christmas banner
and Nativity at St. Peter’s. 2020 has been a very challenging year for everyone as our Council activities were put on hold due to Covid 19.
We continued to make contributions to the local food banks at St. Peter’s and OLF to ensure our community did
not go hungry. We were asked by St. Peter’s to assist in the delivery of food to those families that were unable to
pick it up themselves. When we were called upon, Dan Garcia, or myself, would spring into action.
This year, the Council lost members Sir Knight Jim Kenney and Frank Mazzilli. Past Grand Knight (1979-1980)
Matthew Falcone, of our Council, was taken from us by the horrendous virus. Let’s keep all of them and their
families in our memories & prayers during this Holiday season.
We extend a hearty “ Welcome Aboard” to the recent New Members, Reactivations and Transfers to our
Council. (See page 2 of this Mariner.) I am not sure what 2021 hold for us. Hopefully we can resume regular Council meetings and activities. I will send out emails once we know for sure what we will be doing (your fresh ideas are always welcome!). The
main thing is to stay healthy. This is not something we can take lightly.
Again, let’s all have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and hope 2021 brings new hope and an end to
this pandemic.
Fraternally,
Tom Scalise, Grand
